GUMI Wood decking is ready for simple, fast and trouble-free installation without the use of special additional tools. GUMIdeck wood boards are also known as Wood tiles are made of durable natural wood thermo ash. Terrace boards are machine oiled using selected special oils, with the addition of UV filters and color pigments, which protect the boards from intense sunlight and sudden temperature changes.
Heat-treated real wood boards with a simple click system, which allows easy assembly and disassembly, can create various mounting patterns. Tiles can be used at any time of the year. The connecting connector is non-slip, stable when stepped on and highly loadable.
Area of use: Terrace, balcony, exterior, interior, garden for special living spaces such as. for your conservatory, terrace or balcony.
STEP 1
Before you start laying a wooden terrace, read this information and prepare:
We do not recommend permanently attaching the Gumi system to the terrace surface. Gumi was designed as a "floating system". Under no circumstances strike the boards with an iron hammer or other hard objects, as this may lead to permanent damage to the wooden boards.
Use of terrace
Long-term use of metal objects in direct contact with terrace boards is not recommended, as metal can leave imprints on the boards. It is necessary to ensure the isolation of terrace boards from vegetation. Immediate contact of plants with GUMI deck wood boards leads to accelerated biodegradation of wood. It is especially important to protect your terrace from overgrowth of vegetation between the Gumi wooden boards. If it is necessary to cover the surface (eg renovation and painting), it is best to use carpet or cardboard. Long-term covering of the terrace with impermeable material can cause strong and permanent differences in color between the covered and uncovered part of the terrace on your balcony, the terrace with waterproofing. During the winter season, do not cover the terrace with foil or other material, do not cover for air.
The surface of the GUMI terrace can be washed with a soft brush and water. It is possible to use mild chemical cleaners designed for oiled wooden terraces. Use a soft brush to remove dirt from the terrace surface - such as sand, leaves and needles. It is also necessary to remove the accumulated sand, leaves, needles that block the free flow of rainwater from the terrace. In winter, the snow should be removed - carefully to avoid damaging the surface of the boards. We recommend avoiding the use of metal, aluminum shovels and preferably use a broom to remove snow. Do not use salt or other chemicals to remove snow at all, as this could damage the wooden boards.
You can easily disassemble and fold the floor back in case you want to clean under it.
Try to keep the terrace clean and dry. Beware of places where non-oiled boards may be damaged or scratched. These are signals that the terrace surface should soon be protected by a new layer of oil. The frequency of maintenance depends on the location of the terrace, the degree of wear and exposure to the sun and rain. The quality, appearance and durability of the GUMI terrace depend mainly on its proper and regular care. Frequency of care (required during the warranty period). Terrace maintenance should be performed depending on the degree of wear of the surface layer of wooden boards. In the case of clear cuts, pieces and defects of the protective oil layer, it is first necessary to perform the so-called STRENGTHENING using generally available chemicals for strengthening wooden terraces (according to the manufacturer's instructions) and then applying a new layer of protective oil with a brush, roller or cloth. To restore an undamaged oil layer, you should first wash the terrace only with water and a soft brush and, after it is completely dry, apply a new layer of oil, always following the care / maintenance manufacturer's instructions.
By painting regularly, about once a year, you can easily protect your floor from wear and tear.
For regular care, it is recommended to use dispersed wooden oils containing a color pigment. The oil with color pigment evens out the color of the terrace surface and, thanks to the fact that it is a barrier to UV radiation, it significantly prolongs the process of patination (graying) of natural wood terraces.
If possible, wooden boards and connectors should be stored in a cool, dry room. When storing outdoors, the boards should be covered with a waterproof cover to protect them from e.g. with snow. The air must be freely circulated to prevent moisture or mold and exposure to sunlight causing discoloration.
The substrate should be level with a slope so that water droplets are not retained on it and rainwater drainage (standard 1-2 cm / m) is ensured. The GUMI terrace is a "floating" terrace that adapts and copies the unevenness of your ground. In order to achieve a satisfactory final effect, it is necessary to remove irregularities on the floor, such as e.g. (dry plaster residues, pieces of concrete, etc.). The substrate should be stable, have the correct hardness, ie it does not bend under pressure. The GUMI terrace can be installed as standard on the following types of substrates: concrete drains, concrete, tiles / paving / terracotta, non-ferrous concrete paving, interlocking paving, wood, sheet metal, iron, EPDM waterproofing and others.
The actual size of the GUMI complex terrace may differ slightly from the size of the terrace proposed in the calculator. Permissible deviations are +/- 1 cm for each project dimension.
The terraces are divided into large and standard terraces. It is assumed that a large, wide terrace is an area in which the width measured across the boards is greater than 2.5 m (the length of the terrace measured along the boards is not relevant - it can be any). The calculator on the website automatically checks each configured terrace and displays its final calculation. In addition, information on whether the terrace is large is given in the PDF file created by the calculator. In the case of large terraces and terraces with stairs, it is necessary to contact the sales department of the distributor before purchasing to fill in the attachment to the warranty card.
When designing and then laying large terraces, do not forget to leave the appropriate expansion joints on the side of the terrace, recommendations regarding the size of expansion joints can be found in the warranty card. When using the "brick" and "rows" pattern, expansion joints are used only "for the width of the terrace", while the walls (railing columns, ...) are parallel to the direction of placement of the boards. They must be at least 1.5% of the width of the terrace. Expansion joints are not required for the "terrace length". When using the "square" pattern, expansion joints should be left on each side of the terrace and at least 1.5% of the size of the terrace in place.
